2022 Beauty Favourites: My Everyday Face

A makeup product has to be pretty sensational to make it into my daily rotation. If I’m putting makeup on for the day, you can guarantee these products will make an appearance. Some I’ve used for years, some are newer additions that have replaced OG products from the past.

Base

Tan Luxe tan drops – perfect for no makeup days, this gives you a subtle tan after you mix a couple of drops into your primer or moisturiser. On sale here. Run don’t walk!

Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation – I’m not kidding when I say this foundation changed my life. It goes on like a dream and gives the most amazing dewy glow. I use shade 40 in the day and a mix of 40 and 50 if I’m going out and want a darker shade. I fell in love with this foundation at 21 and although I try other iconic brands, this one will always be my go-to.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer – Honestly, nothing eliminates eye bags like this little power product. It’s lightweight but illuminating and it always makes me look fresh as a daisy even when I’m not. The best bit? It’s a drugstore brand which means it doesn’t break the bank. I’ll happily pay £4.50 to erase eye bags for the rest of time pls.

Hourglass Translucent Setting Powder – I use a dewy foundation so a setting powder is essential for me. I find this powder gives a matte finish without looking overly powdery. At £41 it is a luxury purchase for sure but it lasts an age and you don’t have to worry about dropping it and cracking it either. This has replaced my OG Laura Mercier translucent powder. Win win. If I’m being thrifty, I’ll opt for the classic Rimmel powder compacts which are a fab budget option.

Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand – Oh how I love a liquid contour. My original OG contour was a Maybelline stick that got discontinued which I make a beeline to Walmart for every time I’m in the USA. I’ve found 3 products that are stellar replacements. The Clinique Chubby stick is a good one (£22.50) if you like the stick application, the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminator is gorgeous but I don’t use the highlighter half and it’s £64. I’ve finally settled on the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour wand which at £29 is a slightly less palpitation-inducing price point. It’s forever out of stock though.

Bronze and Blush

My favourite part of my makeup routine is the finishing touches. I use the iconic Chanel bronzing cream (this sinks into the skin like a dream) to give my face a just-back-from-holiday glow. Then I use the stunning Jane Iredale pressed blush in shade Queen Bee. It gives the most perfect pink blush tone to the apples of your cheek. If I wear this blush I always get complements on how fresh my complexion looks and another great thing about this brand is it’s cruelty-free.

Eyes

Eye makeup is a simple one for me. I like brown tones so I usually get a palette with lots of brown shades. The Urban Decay naked palette is my favourite.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – OBSESSED with this. It looks like you have fake lashes. *Flutter Flutter*

Anastasia Of Beverley Hills pro pencil – This makes you look instantly awake and refreshed. It’s my secret weapon when I’ve not had much sleep.

Lips

The current lipstick obsession is the Loreal Colour Riche lipstick under a gloss. Gloss go-to is always Laura Mercier in Bare pink or nude and Mac see-thru (old school choice right there).
