As a bride to be it’s quite easy to be selfish and want everything your own way, after all it’s your day. However, being a Bridezilla will only make your bridesmaids bitter about waiting on you hand and foot. It’s your job to make your bridesmaids feel special on your wedding day. Yes, I’m talking about cute gifts (everyone loves a gift) but there are other ways you can make sure that their experience is a memorable one without splashing the cash. After all your bridesmaids are there for you not only on the big day but from the minute you get engaged. If they are single, sit them next to a hottie, or if your bridesmaids don’t know each other, throw a little get-together so there’s no awkwardness on the day. Being a bridesmaid can be stressful so it’s nice to give them a little something to say  thank you. Many brides like to surprise their bridal party with gifts that they can wear on the day. If you have one bridesmaid, I’ve included a few statement pieces that are guaranteed to delight. However, if you have lots of bridesmaids, you may wish to opt for something a little more affordable.

Rule One: Let Them Choose the Dresses

No one will thank you for forcing a pink puffy sleeved dress on them no matter how much it complements your colour theme. The most important decision is finding a dress that flatters all figures and that could even be worn again after the wedding. Finding the perfect dresses is not something you have to do alone. Delegate the responsibility to one of your bridesmaids or if you can’t bear to dish out full control, invite them to pin their ideal dresses to your Pinterest board so you have an idea of the designs they love.

Tip: If in doubt go with pastel shades. My favourite colour scheme for bridesmaid dresses is pastels and you can’t beat a beautiful blush shade. Just when I thought the only option for bridesmaid dresses was those floor length jersey ones that you can wear one million ways, Lauren Conrad has created her own luxurious line of dress designs for fashion brand Paper Crown. This is quite frankly fabulous news for all of those brides that like luxury for less. At £165 you can dress your bridesmaids to the nines.

Rule 2-Make Them Sparkle

When it comes to bridesmaid jewellery, you can make a statement or keep it simple. The right pieces will of course depend on the dress and your bridesmaids’ personal preference. Jewellery is a great bridesmaid gift so why not surprise them with a chic pair of earrings to wear on the day? I love these Kate Spade pearl earrings but if you require something chic and cheap, these little ASOS numbers can be yours for as little as £5.

Rule 3- Ensure Comfort

Put a pack together for your bridesmaids with things that they may need for the day. Emergency plasters are good as you’ll be on your feet all day or flip flops that have been personalised is also a good idea. Bridesmaids shoes are again a personal preference but if you are choosing them make sure you opt for something they will wear again. How fabulous are those Alexander McQueen sandals? Looking for a more affordable option? This glittery Missguided pair are a bargain at £29.

Lastly, I’ve included a few beauty picks. If you aren’t paying for bridesmaids to have their makeup done, these beauty treats are great if you want to create cute boxes packed with personal treats for your maids. I’m in love with this Ambient Lighting Powder in Etherial from Urban Retreat Beautique but you can’t beat an Essie nail polish in a beautiful bridal hue.
