Dr Barbara Sturm The Good Vitamin C Serum

If you have read my blog for a while, you will know that beauty reviews are few and far between here but that’s because it’s not often that a new product makes the cut.

Beauty Admin

I recently did some beauty admin which involves a total skincare overhaul and throwing out any old products. At the same time, I went through my vitamin and supplements to see what was in date and what needed to be replaced. I always put a reminder in my calendar to do this every six months and make notes to book eye tests (I go to Simon Faulk for all my eye care needs) and recently booked a hearing test too at Northern Spire Hearing Services. Think of it like a 6 monthly MOT. Just as it’s important to throw out any old medicines, it’s important to keep on top of your skincare products. I review mine every 6 months and you’ll be surprised what has gone out of date! I try out hundreds of new beauty lotions and potions but I only feature the ones that I would recommend to my friends and family. One that’s recently caught my attention is the Dr Barbara Sturm The Good Vitamin C Serum. You may have seen me unboxing it on my stories. As you know, I love love love a serum. I’ve seen this one plastered all over my Instagram lately (the queen Hayley Bieber just posted it) and it didn’t disappoint.

Over the last month, this serum has taken up a permanent position in my skincare routine and so I can now give you a full rundown on what I thought as well as where you can get your hands on it. My initial thoughts were that the packaging is very cool and classy, the pipet extremely functional and the consistency pleasing. The pricepoint is hefty (this serum comes in at £110 for 30ml) but we all know that luxury skincare is an investment and here you are paying for not just pretty packaging but skincare that is free of toxic ingredients and concoctions that are science-based. My skin is normal to dry and while I did really enjoy using the serum, the results weren’t life-changing but they were noticeable.

The verdict? I love how the serum makes my skin feel and it’s a joy to apply morning and night plus the bottle looks super cute on my counter. It layers well under my moisturiser and doesn’t affect my makeup application. I adore Vitamin C serums because they subtly brighten the skin, boost collagen production and are superb for anti-ageing. If you want a serum but you don’t want to re-mortgage your house for one bursting with acids, I’d say this is a great one to try as it really works. I’ve noticed my skin is glowing since I started using this. If you suffer from pigmentation like I do, this is also a no-brainer. But £110 a pop? Do I want the full range and Hayley Bieber’s glow? Yes. Can I afford it? Absolutely not. The jury is still out on whether I will buy this again when it’s empty.
