Five Reasons Carrie Bradshaw Should be your S/S Fashion #Goals

Untitled #33

I’ve spent a good few weeks contemplating my SS17 wardrobe and every time I wander around the high street I’m struck by one thought – ‘Carrie Bradshaw would have loved this!’ Fictional character she may be, but she’s also responsible for some of the noughties most iconic sartorial moments. Even more than 20 years after the final episode of Sex and the City aired, she’s still putting in the hours as muse to the fashion industry’s biggest designers. Here are my five Carrie inspired trends that I’ve completely fallen for.

#1: pink everything

You can’t escape the colour pink at the moment, which means Carrie would have had plenty of options for updating her classic tutu outfit. Skirts, shirts, dresses and all manner of accessories, you’ll find them in everything from pastel peach to hot Barbie fuschia. Just look at this Givenchy bag in blush. If it’s a little bit too much girly sweetness for you, just try out a pink manicure to subtly wink to the trend.

#2: corkscrew curls

Carrie’s signature perm is slowly coming back, or at least it is if you ask supermodel Bella Hadid, who recently showcased a similar new hairstyle on Instagram. For advice on how to get corkscrew curls (without having to commit to a perm), we‘re looking to the experts at Mark Hill. Their video offers some top styling tips for rocking the look. #3: fluffy shoes

A friend of mine turned up to a blogger event a couple of weeks ago in perpspex fluffy heels and I honestly haven’t been able to stop thinking about them since. Never one to hold back when it came to footwear, Carrie wasn’t afraid to make a statement with her Jimmy Choos. The more attention-grabbing and uncomfortable they were to walk in, the more she loved them. Fluffy heeled sandals (like these beauties from Manolo Blahnik) are everywhere right now and they have the perfect amount of tongue-in-cheek quirkiness to strike her fancy. I need them in every colour.

#4: The Cold Shoulder Top

A label-lover and fan of dainty looks, the cold shoulder trend that’s been happening over the past few months is all of Carrie’s dreams come true. I’ve seen this Club Monoco top on so many of my favourite bloggers and it’s at the very top of my wish list. wear it with an oversized denim jacket and a messy updo for a 90s vibe that’s totally on-trend this season.

#5: A Line Skirts

Weekly Sunday brunches weren’t just an excuse for Carrie’s squad to get together for a gossip, they were also the perfect way to show off some chic and wearable daytime ensembles. Without a doubt, she’d have been turning up to this weekend’s meetup wearing an a line skirt (like this gorgeous option from Valentino). Team yours with a coral lip and gold jewellery, this Monica Vinader one is just perfect for understated elegance.
