The A/W Beauty Trends I’ll be Trying this Season

Is anyone feeling festive yet? Now I’m going to be totally honest with you, I rarely break out of my comfort zone when it comes to beauty trends, but as the winter season swings around I do find myself throwing caution to the wind and adding more metallics to my makeup collection and my nails make the transition from classic french manicure to nude shades with glitter embellishments on my ring finger and I’m quite partial to a touch a sparkle. Ellisons got in touch with me to share this season’s hottest beauty trends so here is a little rundown of the three beauty trends I’ll be trying and a few tips on how to embrace change.

Metallics

For most of the year, I cling to the safety of my favourite everyday dior brown matte eye shadows but with the festive season approaching there is no better time to experiement with something a little more wow-worthy. Metallic eyeshadows are the perfect way to add a touch of glam to your evening look and I tend to reach for bronze and gold shades. The simplest way to see what tones naturally complement your skintone and eye colour is to get a makeup artist to try out a few looks for you.

Did you know that you can get your makeup done at loads of counters in Leeds for free and you can try out the latest beauty trends without spending a penny? Charlotte Tilbury, Nars and Bare Minerals counters at Harvey Nics will happily do your eye makeup for you as will the lovely girls at Space N K.

I always navigated automatically to a black smokey eye but a makeup artist once told me that browns, bronze and gold are a much better option for me as they aren’t as harsh and they make my eye colour pop. Luckily for me, metallic eyes are one of this season hottest trends and I can’t wait to add some shimmery shades to my collection. My favourite brands for metallic eyes are Bare Minerals and By Terry. Add lashes for maximum effect.

Gold Nails

This season’s nail trends range from quirky neutrals to golden hues and I couldn’t be happier about this as I naturally am drawn to chic neutral shades. I’ve never had gold nails before so this is a shade I’m going to embrace this Christmas. I think the festive season is the perfect opportunity to try a gold shade. I’ve seen so many people showing off their gold nails on Instagram and I’ve got a case of nail envy for sure.

Glitter

Glitter is a tricky beauty trend to master as it’s a fine line between looking chic and looking like Britney at the Teen Choice awards back in 2001. However, done right, it can look stunning. I plan to add a sprinkling of glitter to my nude nails on my next salon visit.

Will you be embracing any new beauty trends for winter?

This is a collaborative post but opinions are as always 100% my own.
