Who decides that November is a great time for a holiday? Me. That’s who. Honeymooning in November seems like a great idea, that is until you eat the entire top tier of you wedding cake. Usually I’d be snuggling into my most forgiving autumn jumpers and stretchiest jeans but instead, I’m heading to Maldives via Dubai with only a teeny tiny triangle bikini for protection. So naturally, I’ve spent the last three weeks spicing up my daily routine with all kinds of weird and wonderful things to get my body in tip top shape. So when I was invited to give Cryotherapy treatments a go, I jumped at the chance. Here’s are my initial thoughts of the treatment that is adored by the likes of Kate Moss.

I went into the treatment session at the Sunshine Studio in Leeds with no real expectations or knowledge of the benefits of cryotherapy other than seeing it on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. For those who have never heard of it, Cryotherapy uses freezing nitrogen against the skin to encourage inch loss while leaving skin looking brighter and tighter. It’s also pretty awesome for getting rid of cellulite.

After trying cryotherapy for the first time, I have to say I’ll never moan about being cold again. On arriving at the salon, I had no idea what to expect, I mean I knew it would be cold but now I truly know what people mean when they say they feel chilled to the bone. Having said this, it wasn’t painful in the slightest. My measurements were taken before and after and I choose to have my stomach treated as I always find that area is the scariest to bare in a bikini. My lovely therapist Melissa talked me through the benefits during the treatment and I was surprised to find that the advantages of Cryotherapy go way beyond inch loss, it’s also great for reducing inflammation. The treatment lasts 30 minutes (around 500 calories are burned in this time) in which time your stomach is artfully sculpted and contoured by your therapist. I’m a huge fan of anything that allows you to burn calories while you’re lying down and the experience is a very relaxing one despite the cold.

Sessions are priced at £95 each and for the best results you need to have at least three. I lost 3 inches from my stomach after just one session! However, like most treatments of this kind, it requires upkeep and maintenance and works best in conjunction with a healthy diet. I was surprised to find that when I was measured on the second session, I’d managed to keep one of those inches off without changing my diet or exercise routine. The results were even better after the second session. It’s not cheap but I think the results speak for themselves.

I opted for the body treatments due to the imminent bikini wearing issue but my mum tried out the Cryotherapy facial and I would definitely recommend this facial on the run up to a special occasion or if you skin is feeling a bit dull and lacklustre. My mum literally looked 10 years younger when she left the salon. The facials cost £65 each and while that is slightly more pricy that a regular facial, the results are spectacular. Freezing cold nitrogen is applied to the facial area while the therapist sculpts and massages the skin to firm and tighten it. My mum said the experience was extremely relaxing but the biggest surprise was the reduction of fine lines around the mouth. I’m definitely going to book one for the festive season.
