The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Cake Pops

Source:passionforbaking.com

Introducing the magical cake pop maker. I’ve always wondered how these little balls of heaven were made and as a novice baker I was instantly overwhelmed by the amount of baking, dipping, twirling and sprinkling that was no doubt involved. A whole year ago my boyfriend’s mum bought me this cake pop maker and yes it has taken me a while to attempt these cute creations but they are totally worth the wait.

It turns out cake pops are simple. Here is the ultimate lazy girls guide to cake pops.

You will need:

  •  A cake pop maker
  •  Betty Crocker cake mix
  •  White and Milk chocolate
  •  Sprinkles

So, the quickest way to make cake pops is to skip making the cake mix from scratch and buy some ready made cake mix. Betty Crocker is the Queen of cake mix and you can buy this from most supermarkets. Scoop the cake mix into the ball shaped holes in the cake pop maker, shut the lid and in 4 minutes you will have perfectly round cake balls to decorate.

Melt a bowl of chocolate and put your cake pops on a wire rack to cool for a minute. Once the chocolate is melted impale one of the balls with one of the long sticks that comes with your cake pop maker and dip and twirl it until it is covered in a layer of thick chocolate.

Place on a tray covered in grease proof paper and do the same with the rest of your cake pops. Add sprinkles and or glitter and pop in the fridge to set. In 20 minutes you can take them out and add pretty things like bows and foil cases. Here’s just a few ideas…

Cake pops make cute gifts for your friends and family and are a simple way to brighten up a baby shower, birthday, wedding or christening.
