I’ve talked before on the blog about building a capsule wardrobe and how much easier it is to get ready and leave the house on time if you have one. Of course, no wardrobe is complete without jewellery, so in this post, I’m going to share some basic tips on how to create a capsule jewellery collection of your own and give your outfits a glow up.

With any kind of capsule collection, you’ll want to start with the basics. This means casual yet elegant everyday pieces that will match with everything you own. I’ve just started my capsule jewellery collection from scratch and I’m really enjoying wearing the new pieces I’m trying out with my current looks.

Begin with Bracelets

Obviously, when you start your search for capsule pieces, you are met with gold, silver and rose gold. The obvious first choice is the one you feel the most drawn to. I started my collection with gold bracelets because I wanted my jewellery to complement my other accessories such as handbags, sunglasses and shoes and gold hardware featured the most in my wardrobe. I also think gold complements my skin tone the most. But you can start with silver or rose gold if that is your personal preference. Once you have a few designs you adore in one metal, you can branch out into others.

The first piece I added to my collection was a feminine gold cuff bracelet from a stunning brand called Ottoman Hands that had this stunning hammered gold finish. You can see it in all its glory in the photos in this post. A cuff bracelet adds instant elegance to any outfit and is such a versatile piece to own. I’ve been wearing this one on repeat (it was kindly gifted to me by the brand in exchange for this post) and I’ve received so many compliments on it.

Then once you’ve found a versatile bracelet that you love in your chosen metal, you can choose to mix and match it with other styles or stack a few similar styles. Knowing your style is key when picking out bracelets. My style is minimal and elegant, classic not trend-led and always quality over quantity.

Add a Long Necklace

I then invested in a long necklace in a coordinating gold metal that would look cute with all of my favourite shirts, tops and blouses. Wear one statement necklace or layer a plain long necklace with a shorter one. The key factor when choosing a capsule necklace is finding a piece that belongs with your workwear just as it does with your weekend wardrobe. Opt for something versatile and timeless and you can’t go wrong. If you want something personal or sentimental, an initial necklace is a lovely investment or alternatively, a charm necklace or pendant is another.

Hoop and Stud Earrings

In order to create a capsule wardrobe that completes any look, you’ll need to add a pair of day earrings and a pair of evening earrings. Plain studs are a must as these will look stunning yet understated with anything you own while a statement pair is perfect for finishing off a dressier nighttime ensemble. A classic gold or silver hoop is also a welcome addition to any capsule collection.

Complete your Collection with a Ring

My go-to for rings that finish off every look is stacking rings in silver or gold. I adore the designs that feature intertwined metals to add a little interest while still being understated.
