How to Live Your Best Life in Winter

So, it’s officially don’t leave the house after 6pm and hibernate under a blanket season. Yes, it’s winter, it’s cold and it’s dark but it’s also an excuse to buy new cosy pyjamas, purchase that insanely cosy blanket you’ve had your eye on, eat all the carbs and drink gallons of hot chocolate. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be here wearing the same ox-blood mani on repeat for the next six months. Just me? Here are a few tips on how to live your best life in the colder months.

Light a Fire

Ooooooh. Is there anything more enchanting than a real fire? Lighting a fire in the room you spend the most time in will have you feeling toasty and loving life in no time. No fire? Why not add candles to ramp up the winter ambience – use scented candles with cinnamon, woody or oud scent to create an opulent toasty winter wonderland in your own home. Candle-lit dinners, candle-lit baths and candle-lit movie marathons. I’m here for it.

Buy a Chunky Knit

Is it even winter if you don’t invest in a new chunky knit (or 3)? Not only fashionable, but a chunky knit will also keep you toasty and comfy. Choose an oversized jumper to wear in the house or take it outdoors and wear it with a tulle skirt and boots! Winter hues in khaki, burgundy and oatmeal add a touch of colour to the traditional black and navy and opting for a high neckline will help keep the cold chill from the back of the neck. Bonus!

Throw on a Blanket or Five

Once seen as a relic from the past, the eiderdown blanket is having somewhat of a renaissance. Adding a touch of chintzy charm to any bedroom, not only are these feather-filled blankets- hence why they’re so warm, practical, they also add a touch of luxury on a cold winter’s night. For a vintage look, a floral pattern in a pastel colour looks just as chic as a quilted satin in a jewel tone.

Hot Chocolate (with marshmallows, chocolate flakes and a shot of Baileys)

Goodbye green tea, green juice and good old H2O. A hot drink will instantly perk you up, and with dark days, cold nights and forgiving clothing, it means the return of mulled wine and hot chocolate. The perfect excuse to revel in festive cheer!

So, throw on your chunky knit jumper, sip on your baileys infused hot chocolate, switch off the lights, and light a candle or two and pop on your favourite Netflix serious. Who’s enjoying the latest series of Power?
