The Red Carpet Cosmo

Who’s ready for the weekend? As it’s the BAFTAs on Sunday I thought I’d share with you an easy peasy film themed cocktail recipe that you can whip up in a flash. To be honest, this little gem is a classic cocktail to make when you have any kind of night in with friends or even a cosy date night. I always associate Cosmos with holidays and since I just landed from Tenerife, I think I’ll stay in holiday mode a little longer by enjoying a few cocktails this weekend. I recently bought a gorgeous table that I plan to turn into a bar cart and I can’t wait to show it off. The thing is, everyone loves a cocktail, so why not spice up your next gathering with some Hollywood glamour? Introducing the Red Carpet Cosmo.

I’ve loved Cosmopolitans ever since I used to spend my Friday nights cosied up watching Sex and The City. My favourite thing about this cocktail is that it’s pretty and pink (and completely effortless). Simply dig out your most fabulous martini glasses and grab your vodka of choice. There is something so deliciously sophisticated about cocktails served in a martini glass. With only four ingredients, it isn’t overly flashy but simple and elegant. I started with the classic Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe (I found the perfect one over at thebar.com. This is the perfect website to browse when looking for classic cocktails.

Begin with your cocktail shaker and add in a shot of Smirnoff. Next add in lime juice, cranberry juice and orange liquer. So, what makes this a Red Carpet cosmo? Simply add in a splash of Chambord, plenty of ice, shake and pour. Top up with champagne to add a touch of fizz. Any kind of champagne or prosecco will do but pink champagne is my favourite. Add a twist of lime to garnish.

The Chambord and champagne make a superb addition to the classic recipe. Alternatively you could just drop in a dollop of fruity sorbet. I’m obsessed with putting sorbet in cocktails, it kind of my signature.

If you prefer something a little less fizzy, leave out the bubbles and let the Chambord and Orange liqueur do the talking.

This is the perfect film themed celebration cocktail. Tweet me @remsluxuryblog  if you decide to make this to add a touch of class to your Saturday night in! FYI Red velvet cupcakes complement red carpet cosmos perfectly.
