Happy World Heart Day

img_3846Good morning to my lovely readers. So while we all know how partial I am to a piece of cake, I also make sure I work it off in the gym and ensure that two out of three meals actual fuel my body rather than just fill it with sugar. Today is World Heart day and this year the focus is all about creating a heart-healthy environment by squeezing in one healthy heart activity a day. Looking after your heart is important for people of all ages and so many of us put effort into how we look on the outside but rarely think about becoming healthier from the inside. I was kindly sent a little heart-health care package that shows just how simple it can be to look after your heart. It’s all about making small changes to your daily routine. Here’s how I plan to make each day healthier.

I’m a smoothie lover and I have one each day without fail. It started out as a way to get more protein in my diet but I now do it without thinking because they taste so good. So when I received this care package that contained lots of lovely bits and bobs to make my morning smoothie that little bit healthier, I was more than a little excited to give it a go. My morning smoothie usually contains vanilla protein, a banana, a handful of berries, chai seeds, coconut cream and spinach but today I added in a couple of dates to increase my energy levels and some breakfast oats to add fibre. Also included in my package was a new launch from Herbalife called Beta Heart which is designed to help you lower or maintain blood cholesterol. It’s vanilla flavoured so it blends seamlessly into my shake. I can honestly say that taking the time to throw in a few extra ingredients into my morning smoothie is a small price to pay for a healthier heart. Simple huh?

How are you celebrating World Heart Day?
