Little Luxuries that Make Every Evening Better

Just a few simple changes can really make your time spent at home on an evening that little bit more luxurious so I thought I’d share the small upgrades I’ve made recently that have taken my happiness levels up a notch.

Posh Bedlinen-Since buying a house three years ago, I’ve become a bit of a bedding snob. Gone are the uni days where any old set would do. Again, I tend to have a system where instead of going for the cheapest bedding on a luxury site, I choose the most high quality options in high street stores to get posh bedding for less. There is nothing like investing in fresh white sheets to make your evenings more opulent. This set is from the *Mathew Williams Home collection for Debenhams (I mean just look at those tassels) and it’s to die for but you can also find really gorgeous brands including some delightful Emma Bridgewater designs here which I need in my life. Autumn is a great time to have a bedding re-fresh not to mention a little cashmere throw and some cosy cushions. Bye bye emergency savings fund.

A Luxury Robe-Whether you want to enhance those precious hours you spend at home after a day at work, or you simply want to make a leisurely weekend that little bit more cosy, a sumptuously soft robe is a must. My husband surprised me with a super snuggly White Company dressing gown last Valentine’s day and I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t changed my life.

Silk Pyjamas-In the past two years I’ve made the transition from cotton to silk and my oh my what a difference it makes. I bought my first ever pair in New York during an excessive Victoria Secret shopping spree and have been converted ever since. You don’t have to spend a fortune either. Of course, Olivia Von Halle have the ultimate silk pjs (hides credit cards) but at the same price as a monthly mortgage payment you may wish to opt for Rosie for Autograph who have some gorgeous silk and lace designs that are just as pretty. I’m a little in love with the silk cami and french knicker sets. *hint hint*

Bath Oils-Luxurious bath oils are my weakness (Jo Malone I’m looking at you) and I tend to use them as a reward after a particularly gruelling gym session. Sometimes even the smallest touches of luxury can really make a big difference to your day.

Candles-I’d never been a candle person until I received lots of lovely ones for my housewarming and ever since, I’ve found myself staying loyal to a few luxury brands. My candle collection consists of Jo Malone, Neom (the three wick kind get me all kinds of excited, don’t get me started on the Jenny Packham limited edition ones) and Voluspa. As we move into Autumn, there is nothing I love more than to light a candle and fill every room with delicious spicy scents. The large Neom ones make fab containers for your cotton pads once all of the wax has burned.

Tea Leaves-You wouldn’t believe what a difference high quality tea leaves make to your morning brew. Yes, they’re faffy and a little bit more messy than bags but the difference in taste is significant. I’m currently working my way through Fortnum and Mason’s range of green teas. Trust me when I say it’s epic.

What are your little luxuries?
