Easy Elderflower Fizz

As it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday I thought I’d share with you an easy peasy cocktail recipe that you can surprise your Mum with. To be honest, this little gem is great for when you have any kind of visitor. If you plan to come to my house in the summer, you can expect these on tap. I went to stay with a friend last weekend in London and about 2.3 seconds after I walked in the door there was a cosmo in my hand. The thing is, everyone loves a cocktail (see the most addictive one ever here) so why not surprise your next visitor with something chic and fizzy? Introducing the easy peasy elderflower fizz.

My favourite thing about this cocktail is that it’s light and refreshing (and completely effortless). Simply dig out your finest flutes (you can find mine here) and add a dash of elderflower liquor. There is something so deliciously summery about elderflower based cocktails and this version is incredibly moreish. With only four ingredients, it isn’t overly flashy but simple and elegant and easy to drink.

Top up your glass with bubbles of your choice. Any kind of champagne or prosecco will do. Blend strawberries and ice with a splash of soda water and pour over the bubbles to add a fruity finish.

The strawberry and elderflower make a superb combination. Alternatively you could just drop in a dollop of mango sorbet. I’m obsessed with putting sorbet in cocktails, it kind of my signature.

If you prefer something a little less fizzy, swap the bubbles for a shot of Chase vodka and a handful of strawberries.

This is the perfect pre-dinner cocktail. Tweet me if you decide to make this for your Mum on Mothering Sunday!
