Interior Inspiration: My Dream Kitchen

kitchen

One of my goals for 2016 is a mini kitchen makeover. We moved into our home 3 years ago and there are still a few areas of our kitchen that we never really got around to completing. So, it’s about time we changed the areas we aren’t in love with and make it more our own with a few upgrades here and there. I’ve been busy putting together a few Pinterest boards featuring my favourite design ideas and it’s fair to say I’ve already got pretty carried away. Design wise, I’ve been flitting between all white designs to slate grey shabby chic styles, we already have a beautiful black tiled floor that lends itself to both decor styles.

If we are talking about my dream kitchen here and money were no object, it would definitely feature an island and be bespoke in the style of Glotech Kitchens. This isn’t exactly feasible in our current kitchen as we have a dining table where a central island would go. When we moved in we wanted to create a sociable space and a solid wood square table with wicker and leather chairs was one of our very first purchases.

I absolutely love the islands that have a shiny granite top and wicker storage with areas that you can sit up to and have breakfast at or reply to emails. Mayfair Granite recently commissioned a study that revealed granite worktops as one of the most desirable kitchen features and I couldn’t agree more with this. A shiny island may be out of the question for my mini kitchen makeover but swapping our current laminate worktops for luxurious granite ones is at the top of the list.

The next upgrade would have to be the fridge. I love the oversized American fridges with built in ice machines and all the frills. I also like the idea of a separate wine cooler, my Mum recently had her kitchen redesigned and this feature is the one I’m most envious of. Underfloor heating would also be a dream come true especially in the colder months.

Open shelving seems to be one of the key kitchen trends this season and I would love to install some rustic shelves and fill them with champagne bottles and fancy glasses.

Here’s a sprinkling of kitchen related pins that paint the perfect picture of my dream kitchen. Let me know what you think of my ideal features and leave me a comment with your favourite kitchen design ideas.
