July’s Beauty Buys

IMG_6852

I have major post Vegas blues. Three weeks ago I was waking up in the largest bed I’ve ever slept in, opening the curtains with the touch of a button and enjoying a 360 degree view of Vegas. I did however, bring my hotel pillows home with me and while they don’t fit in my pillow cases, they are quite simply essential to life. Totally worth all of those weird stares on the plane. My only regret is that I didn’t bring home the pillow cases, the duvet and the actual bed itself. To cheer myself up and clear up my jet-lagged complexion, I bought beauty treats. Why is it that when you pop out  for a few bits you come out with half the shop? Here are just a few of the things that came home with me.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Ever since Micellar cleansing waters came on the scene I’ve been curious about the benefits. So when I spied this one from Garnier, I had to have it. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and it’s turned into a bit of a bedside beauty staple. Plus, it’s very pretty. You can see that to say I’ve used it day and night for two weeks, I’ve barely made a dint in it which makes it great value for money. Did I mention it’s only £4.99? It will never replace my Liz Earle cleanser but it’s great if you are feeling a little lazy as there is no rinsing required. My favourite thing about this is that it even works on mascara. Panda eyes are not a good look.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray and Straight Blow Dry

Next up is a bit of Bumble and Bumble. This adorable duo was hiding at the counter in Boots and I couldn’t help but add it to my basket. I’m a sucker for anything miniature. I don’t usually need any help straightening my poker straight hair but this product will come in handy on holiday when the climate is more humid and the hotel hairdryer needs a helping hand. The thickening spray is a fab addition to my collection as it isn’t sticky like most hairsprays. It’s lightweight but powerful and you only need a small spritz to get the volume you require.

*Shiseido Brilliant Bronze Self Tanning Emulsion

I couldn’t publish a July favourites post without including a fake tan. I love trying new self tanning products as I’m still trying to find one that ticks all of the boxes. This Brilliant Bronze tanning emulsion ticks most of them. It smells divine which is important because no one wants to smell of wet dog. Ever. The colour is dark yet natural but I do wish it lasted a little longer. This cream formula is really moisturising but also goes on white so you have to be extremely careful that you don’t miss bits. Overall, I liked it and the packaging is top notch. I used the Sanctuary warming sugar polish to exfoliate before applying it and you can’t beat a high quality exfoliator to ensure your fake tan glides on. You can buy it online here.

Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate, Argan and Grapeseed Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy

I am partial to a bit of Crabtree & Evelyn although I rarely pop into their shop to browse. I found this little gem in Boots and picked it up simply because the packaging was so cute. It was originally for a friend (sorry Charlotte) but I couldn’t resist trying a bit (I am a bad person) and then I had no choice but to keep it for myself. Luckily for me, it’s not just a pretty face. It’s handy to keep in your bag, it smells divine and it leaves your hands baby soft.

*Shisedo Sun Protection Lotion SPF 15

I took this on holiday with me and as it’s a face and body combo and it takes up less room without compromising on protection. It’s a low factor so it’s a good one to use on the last few days of your getaway. It glides on effortlessly and isn’t greasy like some sun lotions can be. You can find it here. This will be coming with me on holiday in a few weeks and just seeing this product makes me feel a little giddy about the impending getaway.

*Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara

My They’re Real mascara is on its last legs so I was delighted when this little beauty arrived in the mail. I’ve never tried a Clinique mascara before so I was excited to give it a go. It’s called a feathering mascara and as the name suggests it provides fabulously fluttery results. For me, it’s a day mascara as I tend to opt for a more dramatic look on an evening but it creates long lashes that are perfectly defined. It isn’t clumpy which is also a big bonus as i’m not a fan of scary spidery lashes.

*Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Defense,  *Clarins Flash Beauty Balm,  Clinique Pallette

Here’s another little find from Clinique that is perfect for you jetsetters.

IMG_6863

This was a total godsend in Vegas as I have uneven skin pigmentation and this product is the perfect way to prevent it. Not only does this product offer a high level of protection, it is tinted so it offers great coverage too. When you don’t want to smother your skin with foundation, this is the perfect option for those of you who don’t love going completely fresh faced on the beach.

The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is my holiday hero product. You can wear it alone or under your makeup for a gorgeous, glowing complexion. My Mum has used this for years and it’s great when your skin needs a beauty boost. This was kindly sent to me by Click Fragrance. I received a lot of complements on my skin after using this which is always a sign of a great product. There will be a full review on this product coming soon.

The Clinique makeup pallette was an Ebay find and I’m proud to announce that it contains the perfect pink blush. *smug face* The pink blusher was the only reason I bought this pallette but it turns out the brown eyeshadow is pretty amazing too. I’ve only recently got into wearing eyeshadow so it’s a great neutral shade for newbies.

What do you think of my latest beauty finds? Which ones have you tried? Let me know in the comments!
