To celebrate making it through dry January if you took part, I have the ultimate winter cocktail recipe. If you have a sweet tooth like me, this will tickle your fancy especially if you find traditional espresso martinis a little on the bitter side.
Of course, you can’t make a martini without a fancy martini glass and I was recently gifted the most incredible designs by Ritzenhoff. You can shop them here. If I ever have guests, my Ritzenhoff flutes and martini glasses always attract a lot of ooooohs and ahhhhhs.
The key to making an exquisite martini is the coffee beans you use. I use Dark Woods Coffee and they have a blend of beans called Under Milk Wood. This has notes of caramel making it ideal if you want to sweeten up a coffee-based cocktail.
To make your espresso martini you will need:
Baileys Irish Cream, Vodka, a shot of cold espresso and a garnish of your choice.
Fill a shaker with ice and add the Baileys and the vodka. If you want a caffeine-free version, try a coffee flavoured vodka! Shake and then add your coffee shot. When you’re happy, pour it into your glass.
Add 3 coffee beans to finish and voila! If you’re hosting a party, these make the perfect after-dinner cocktails, serve with homemade shortbread during the dessert course if you’re feeling fancy.
