Finding the Right Contact Lenses for You with Feel Good Contacts

Hello lovely readers! Ok so fun fact. I’ve been wearing contact lenses now for 10 years and they’ve honestly changed my life. If you have 20 20 vision you may want to skip this post, but if you’ve ever wondered if contact lenses might help you live your best life, this post is for you. Lenses have become part of my daily routine and putting them in and taking them out has honestly become second nature. But it wasn’t always this way. When I first made the transition, I found searching for the perfect lenses quite the challenge. I struggled to get them in and out. There were so many questions. Did I go for daily disposable lenses? Or the ones you can sleep in and change every few weeks? Should I wear them all the time or alternate between lenses and glasses? Full disclosure: I do have a pair of glasses that I will get out only in dire emergencies, like if my opticians happened to close forever and contact lenses suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth. (It’s the only time I’ve ever had a problem wearing Prada in public). I just don’t suit glasses and never have. When Feel Good Contacts got in touch to tell me about their #FeelGoodFeelComfi campaign, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to whip up a little post about my eyesight journey and give you some expert advice should you be contemplating contact lenses yourself. This is just the type of post I wish I could have read when I was trying out contact lenses for the first time.

Experiment with different brands

Something I would say to anyone new to contact lenses is don’t be scared to try a few different brands. Everyone is different and getting it right is often trial and error. When I received the Comfi lenses, I was excited about trying a different brand as I’ve stuck to the same one for 10 years. I’ve always worn daily lenses so the Comfi lenses weren’t a major change in that respect, but the feel of the lenses was a world apart from what I’m used to. I found they felt flimsier and at first I was worried that they would move around every time I blinked. After a minute or two I couldn’t feel them. Once your lenses are in you are supposed to forget about them completely, you should feel like you aren’t wearing anything and if you feel irritated or sore, they simply aren’t the right lenses for you. My eyes are quite dry and so one thing I loved about these lenses were how hydrating they were. These lenses have a 58% water content which is perfect for me. One thing I noticed about the brand straight off the bat was the packaging. You wouldn’t think that packaging really mattered either way, but it really really does. They are a lot easier to open than my current lenses and I don’t end up with water everywhere which is a bonus. Basically, it pays to try a few brands before you commit to one.

Make sure that you aren’t paying more than you need to

Another consideration when committing to contact lenses is cost. The biggest advantage without a doubt with these lenses is affordability. I had no idea that you can save on contact lenses just by going online. My contact lenses are one of my biggest monthly outgoings and one I pay without a second thought each month as you can’t put a price on perfect vision right? The price of my lenses is concealed in a monthly payment that includes regular eye tests with a private optician and so I’ve never realised how affordable lenses can be. A box of 30 lenses is £15.98 for a month’s supply which is half the price of my current lenses. Feel Good Contacts also have a price match promise so you can order safe in the knowledge that you can’t get your lenses cheaper elsewhere. Less pennies spent on contact lenses is more to spend on those little luxuries yes?

Considering an online service

Sometimes wearing contact lenses can be quite inconvenient. You have to remember to have a spare pair on you at all times and plan ahead to make sure you have enough for impromptu trips. I get my contact lenses delivered to my door but that being said, when I place an order I still have to wait three days for my lenses to arrive. Now being the unorganised person I am, I often leave it too late and find myself flapping about running out of lenses or not having enough to take away with me but online services have many benefits including next day delivery. For this reason, I would consider swapping to an online supplier. Anything for an easy life.

If you are thinking about making the transition to contact lenses, leave any questions you may have in the comments and I’ll do my best to help.

I have just accepted the opticians price as a given , but you are right , it is a massive expense so if I can get half price is a switch I’m happy to make !! Especially if sent to door in a few days as I will never switch back to glasses !
